i don’t wanna be a killjoy because while andrew tate getting arrested after leaking his own location in an attempt to “clapback” at greta thuberg for ratioing him when he attempted to bait her IS objectively hilarious it’s kind of worrysome that the general response to that has been “wow greta thunberg totally DESTROYED andrew tate, i’m so proud of gen z “ and not “isn’t it horrifying that a girl who’s been getting sexually harrased by grown men since she was a literal child has been having to constantly defend herself because noone else seems to want to”
i distinctly remembering greta saying something like “stop looking to young people to fix all your problems, you’ve stolen my childhood” and all anyone seemed to get out of that was “wow gen z is amazing, they’re gonna save the world!!!” somehow.
ignore rude anons instead of giving them attention
find your small circle of blogs to follow and stick to it, be diligent about pruning the list when you see stuff you don’t like on your dash
talk about streaming and voting and stuff if you want but be aware that if you’re aggressive about it people will probably ignore you lol
do not DO NOT! repost content creators’ works in any way
REBLOG THINGS! likes are useless on tumblr and they are a very bad way to save posts for yourself. your blog is literally meant to be an archive of your stuff and it’s much easier to find that stuff when you reblog AND TAG it. talking in tags is also a surefire way to make mutuals
a few more tips
adding comments to reblogs is fine, but usually not a thing that most veteran tumblr users will do. it makes reblogging from you just a little bit more work if your followers don’t want to rb with your added comments. general etiquette is to keep commentary in tags unless you feel your comment is a huge value add to a post (hint: usually that just means you should make your own post!)
try not to just follow and interact with popular/content creator blogs. of course interactions are always appreciated, but those blogs often have thousands of followers and you can get lost in the shuffle. it’s way easier to make friends and build a community when you follow people who you have things in common with
show some personality on your blog if you want more followers! add tag commentary, put your name/nickname/age/pronouns in your bio, make shitposts and memes all you want. you’ll be surprised how far that gets you on here lol
use content filters to keep triggers and other content you are uncomfortable with off of your dash. most blogs are also open to requests and will tag your triggers if asked. you can filter tags and words on the app by going to your own blog, clicking the gear icon in the top right corner -> general settings -> content you see.
